v1.3.3
September 2026
Latest
  • Opening Grind on a second device now actually shows what you did on the first one: it quietly pulls whatever was already sent before the window even opens, instead of waiting for a manual "Sync now" or a normal close to catch up.
  • Your profile photo now follows your account to a new device — before this update it only ever went up, never came back down, so a second computer (or a reinstall) stayed without it for good.
  • Wallpaper, accent colour, font, sizes and your default timer lengths sync more reliably: changing one setting on one device could silently overwrite a different, newer setting from another device. Each one now travels on its own.
  • The app now syncs quietly every few minutes on its own while it stays open, not only at login or when you close it — a long morning session used to sit unsynced until one of those two moments came around.

v1.3.2
September 2026
  • The room is now part of the app, not a separate place: with the shared clock running, Work shows that clock — the room's name, the countdown and who's in there with you — instead of a second, private timer ticking away in silence beside it.
  • Focus done in a room now actually counts: it lands in your daily challenge, your hours, the skyline and the exported report, which never happened before. The time credited is whatever the clock actually ran — a block the host skips at two minutes is worth two minutes, not fifty.
  • Tasks typed straight into a room show up in your report with their hours, under a project named after the room. Checking one off moves focus on to the next open one by itself.
  • Fixed, and this one was quiet: tasks, board columns, calendar events and completions could stop reaching your second computer for good, while projects kept arriving normally. Every install runs one full sync on this update and repairs itself.
  • Your Grind looks like you everywhere: wallpaper, accent colour, font, size, interface style and your default timer lengths now follow the account to any machine you log into.
  • Forgot your password? The login screen now sends a code by email and lets you set a new one. Until this version, that meant writing to support.
  • A Pause button in the corner of the timer: start one whenever you want, for whatever length you want, without waiting for a focus block to end first.
  • Focus and break lengths can be changed with the clock running. The current block runs to its end; the new numbers apply from the next one.
  • Tables in Notes now open a real grid to fill in — add and remove rows and columns, Tab between cells — and sit aligned in the body of the note instead of showing up as a pile of bars.
  • Deleting a task no longer erases where its hours came from: stats, skyline, garden and the report keep the project and task name. The daily challenge accepts hours AND minutes. Friends turns yellow when someone writes to you. Suggested friends load three at a time.

  • The Skyline opens on the whole city instead of your own buildings: you and everyone you are connected to in one map, laid out in rings around a centre. Focus hours move your district toward downtown, and nothing empty is drawn any more — the old grid reserved four lots per person whether or not they had four projects.
  • Every roof carries its owner's name, painted flat onto the surface, so there is no guessing which towers belong to whom.
  • Hover any building to see the project behind it, the hours logged in it and how many sessions that took.
  • A fullscreen button that hands the whole window to the city, and a switch that hides every name when you just want to look at it.
  • Unread messages now rise to the top of the friends list with the first line of the message shown in yellow. The dot alone was not landing — people saw it without connecting it to somebody having written to them.
  • Online, Offline and Suggested are collapsible groups. Fold the ones you are not looking at and the screen stays clean; it remembers what you folded.
  • Suggested friends: people your friends are connected to, ranked by how many you have in common, with an Add button that does not make you leave the screen.
  • The rooms list shows a green dot with how many people are inside and the shared clock counting down, so you can see whether a block is running without entering the room.
  • A friend's profile card now shows their photo, and the dashboard carries an Update button — the yellow dot by the logo announced a new version but gave you nowhere to act on it.
  • Fixed: a friend's city answered "Not found", shared blocks started without asking the room, and tasks, notes and calendar events were not syncing between machines. All three were finished features whose server half had never been deployed.

  • Notes: a full writing space inside Grind. Folders, markdown, [[links]] between notes that create the note if it does not exist yet, backlinks, #tags, a formatting toolbar and a / menu. Export any note to PDF on Grind letterhead, and switch the page to white paper when you want to read instead of write.
  • A shareable focus report: one card with your hours, your tasks and a chart, exported as PNG or PDF or copied straight to the clipboard. Seven chart shapes to choose from, and the corner can carry a heatmap of when you actually sit down instead of the mascot.
  • The dashboard was rebuilt. Four tabs — overview, rhythm, distribution, progress — a 30 / 90 / 365 / all-time selector, and every chart now responds to the mouse: hover a point, a bar or a day and it tells you what it holds.
  • Two numbers Grind was already storing finally show up: how much of the block you planned you actually sat through, and how many blocks you finished versus abandoned, by weekday.
  • Tasks, project boards, calendar events and their completions now sync between your machines. Before this they lived only on the computer that created them, so a Mac and a PC each had their own half of your week.
  • Shared rooms: when a shared block is about to start, a window comes up over whatever you are looking at and asks whether you are in — quiet notifications were being missed.
  • Skyline: visit a friend's city and see the districts of your own metropolis, one per project.

v1.2.2

  • Grind now runs on Mac. There are two native builds — one for Apple Silicon (M1 and newer) and one for Intel Macs — so you download the one made for your machine instead of running through a compatibility layer.
  • Sync between Windows and Mac is still being validated in this first Mac release; we'll count on it officially in the next one.
  • On Mac, the first launch needs one approval under System Settings → Privacy & Security. The download page walks you through it. This goes away once Grind is notarized with Apple.

v1.2.1
August 2026
  • Updating no longer greets you with an error. Grind used to unpack itself into a temporary folder every time it started, and right after an update that raced the old version closing — so the first launch failed and only worked once you opened it again by hand. Grind now keeps its files where it is installed, so there is nothing left to race.
  • Grind starts noticeably faster, because it no longer unpacks 104 MB before showing you anything.
  • The installer is about 28% smaller.

v1.2.0

  • Repeating tasks come back. A daily task you finished used to stay finished for good — it never returned the next day and quietly dropped out of your queues. It now resets every night, and a small "resets in 4h" note next to a ticked one tells you it is waiting for midnight, not gone.
  • Blocks count per day. A daily task starts each morning back at 0 of its planned blocks instead of carrying every block you have ever done on it, so the queue estimates the right amount of work.
  • Start straight from Today: every task in the list has its own button, and one at the top runs everything still left today back to back — across projects, including the ones you added with the + and never gave a project.
  • You can be in several rooms at once. The Friends screen now lists every room you belong to with the hours of focus you have banked in each, and you enter and leave them one by one.
  • One room at a time is the one you are working in — its shared clock is the one you see, and your finished blocks count toward that room's hours.
  • In a room, the + on your column now also pulls in a task you already have. Pick it from any project, or from what is due today, instead of typing it out again.

v1.1.0
August 2026
  • Study rooms: create a room, invite up to four friends, and work side by side. Everyone sees each other's task list for the day, priority dots included.
  • One shared pomodoro for the whole room. The host starts, pauses and skips; everyone's clock stays in step, and the room keeps count of the blocks you finish together.
  • Room chat for everyone in the room, and a shared project where you add tasks and put a name next to each one.
  • Invites arrive as a banner at the top of the app with a soft chime, showing who invited you, to which room, and how long you have to join.
  • Rooms can have a password, and the host can rename them at any time.
  • A + button on Today: add a task for today on the spot, without giving it a project or opening the calendar.
  • Skyline opens on the Garden now, and the city was redrawn — buildings have their own colour per project, lit windows and varied shapes, and they grow five times faster.
  • Update now actually updates: Grind downloads the new version, checks it, installs it and reopens itself. No more downloading by hand.

v1.0.4
July 2026
  • Sound settings: pick your alarm from six sounds, set its volume, and hear a preview the moment you choose — all in a new Sound section.
  • A daily Challenge bar under the timer: set how many hours you want to focus today and watch it fill as you go. Its color follows your accent color.
  • Friends now show a profile photo beside their name — set yours in the Dashboard and friends see it; a grey placeholder shows for anyone without one.
  • The font picker previews each font in its own typeface, so you see what you're choosing before you switch.
  • Drag a task to reorder it from anywhere on the row — not just the tiny edge — and drag whole projects to reorder them in the Timer panel too.
  • Chat: your name shows once per run of messages instead of on every line, with a date divider when the day changes.
  • More emojis in the chat picker, and the picker now stays fully inside the window.
  • Fixed: a message could appear twice for the sender; and checking off a task in Today now updates it in the Projects panel too.

v1.0.3
July 2026
  • Drag to reorder tasks on the project page too — the order follows you everywhere, including the Timer's task panel.
  • Repeat on exact weekdays: tick Mon / Wed / Fri once instead of creating three copies of the same task.
  • Trash button on the Calendar: remove any item with a confirmation — recurring ones ask whether to remove only that day or that day and all future ones.
  • Friends screen: online friends sort to the top, and a yellow dot marks whoever sent you an unread message — it clears when you open the chat.
  • The unread-message dot now sits right beside "Friends" in the sidebar and gently pulses until you look.
  • Fullscreen mode — click the new button at the very top right, or press F11.
  • Email and username fields no longer accept capital letters (passwords are untouched).
  • Fixed: renaming a task from the Calendar left the old name in the Timer's project panel.

v1.0.2
July 2026
  • Project boards: organize each project as a Timeline — custom columns you create, name and drag tasks between — or as an Eisenhower urgency × importance matrix.
  • Category filter on the board: pick one or more categories and see only those tasks.
  • Emoji picker in chat — tap the smiley next to Send.
  • Edit tasks, notes and reminders straight from the Calendar with the new pencil button.
  • Feedback box in Settings — send ideas and problems right from the app.
  • Chat times now follow your computer's own time zone.
  • Fixed: restarting after saving settings could fail to reopen the app.
  • Clearer deadline dialog: setting a time is now opt-in ("Set a time") instead of opt-out.
  • Bigger priority dots, and the background-opacity slider now only moves when dragged.

v1.0.1
July 2026
  • Friend menu on the Friends screen: view profile, invite to a room, remove friend — removing now always asks for confirmation.
  • Friend profiles: see a friend's focus hours, sessions and active days.
  • The "Paused" status now shows in yellow, so it reads at a glance next to green (focusing) and grey (offline).
  • Chat messages and friend requests arrive noticeably faster.
  • Update notices now include release notes — you see what changed before you download.
  • Redrawn settings icon and small visual consistency fixes in both interface styles.
